The Doris Elizabeth King Paperback Book Collection contains a selection of books made from a large collection of books bequeathed to North Carolina State University. Items in the collection were selected by NC State University Graphic Design & Industrial Design faculty members Deborah Littlejohn and Russell Flinchum, as well as the staff of the NC State University Libraries' Special Collections Research Center. Items selected are either early paperback books or otherwise noteworthy for their book design. A separate collection contains Doris Elizabeth King's archival papers.

Biographical/historical note

Doris Elizabeth King (1925-2015) was a longtime professor of history at North Carolina State University. She bequeathed her book collection to North Carolina State University at her death.

Scope/content

The Doris Elizabeth King Paperback Book Collection contains a selection of books made from a large collection of books bequeathed to North Carolina State University. Items in the collection were selected by NC State University Graphic Design & Industrial Design faculty members Deborah Littlejohn and Russell Flinchum, as well as the staff of the NC State University Libraries' Special Collections Research Center. Items selected are either early paperback books or otherwise noteworthy for their book design. A separate collection contains Doris Elizabeth King's archival papers (MC 00551).

This collection is arranged alphabetically by title.

Access to the collection

Collection is open for research; access requires at least 48 hours advance notice. Because of the nature of certain archival formats, including digital and audio-visual materials, access will require additional advanced notice. Copies of digital files may be provided for use in the SCRC Reading Room upon request.
